Distillery Manager

OVERVIEW AND OPPORTUNITIES
The Distillery Manager is a dynamic position that will supervise all areas of the Deerhammer Tasting Room, and also oversee defined aspects of general distillery operations — essentially an 75/25 split between the two facets which will fluctuate based on seasonality of tasting room visitation. You will work closely with our culinary, marketing, sales, and production staff. The ideal candidate loves providing guests with an amazing visitor experience, is extremely organized and detail oriented, and is responsible as well as hard working. The Distillery manager acts as the leader responsible for the overall success of the distillery tasting room and its customer-facing visitor experience.
COMPENSATION
60-65k/year Depending on experience, plus quarterly sales bonus opportunity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Understands the mission and business plan of the Distillery, the role the Tasting Room fulfills in the plan, and the vision for the tasting room environment and character.
- Manages the operation of the Tasting Room including scheduling, staffing, hiring, firing and supervision of employees.
- Oversee the continual evolution of a seasonally optimized whiskey-centric cocktail menu.
- Ensuring adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding alcohol sales and required training/certification.
- Maintains an inviting and positive customer-service environment in accordance with the overall mission and vision of the company. Trains team on mission, vision and hospitality standards of the tasting room.
- Maintains beverage and food standards and an overall Tasting Room environment that is sanitary, safe and sustainable.
- Willing to ‘take call’ and serve as a bartender to perform back-up duties for employees when required.
- Assists the owners of Deerhammer with a variety of administrative and operational tasks as delegated.
- Responsible for daily cash drawer reconciliation and bank deposits.
- Supervises and performs ongoing general maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Communicates orders and requirements to vendors/purveyors and maintains a positive relationship to facilitate inventory requirements.
- Analyzes financial, customer flow, and food and beverage consumption data/trends as they relate to prescribed budgets, and make recommendations to distillery owners.
- Manages merchandise inventory and forecasts inventory needs.
- Oversees the planning, logistics and execution of private events and programming held at the tasting room.
- Frequently interacts with individuals both within and outside of organization.
- Oversee product packaging operations (whiskey bottling line) as time allows
- Assist with general shipping and receiving
- Performs other duties as assigned in the best interest of maintaining and preserving the mission, vision and culture of Deerhammer Distilling Company.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by demonstrating a pleasant and hospitable demeanor, and acting/communicating in a manner which facilitates positive working relationships with customers, co-workers and company leadership.
- Knowledge of marketing principles and customer relations techniques
- Professional level of computer/technology competency and the ability to adopt new/unfamiliar tech platforms as needed.
- Basic understanding of American whiskey (in-depth knowledge preferable!) and of the broader beverage alcohol industry.
- Willingness to further industry knowledge though certifications, classes, and attending industry events
- Knowledge of financial management including budgeting, inventory control and internal financial controls.
- Knowledge of point-of-sales system (we used Toast) in retail operation
- Knowledge of restaurant food service and preparation techniques and health and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of Colorado Liquor Control regulations regarding retail hospitality operations.
- Leadership skills in managing and supervising employees
- Skill in interpersonal relations and customer service techniques
- Ability to motivate team members to achieve customer service goals
- Demonstrated ethic of accountability in the workplace; experience maintaining strict confidentiality and discretion
- Requires excellent judgment, communication skills, and a personal commitment to outstanding customer service.
- Must be a self-starter with ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.

- Will require regular weekend, holiday and/or evening work. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position
- Minimum of four year’s work experience in the hospitality industry including either restaurant, brewery, winery, distillery or retail management.
- Supervisory experience is desirable.
